Last night I was thinking about a common phrase we hear today…That Christ died for our Sin.
Although the death of Christ was an atonement for the Sin of the world according to the scriptures, He did not die FOR your sins.
He came and overcame to restore to His father that which was lost…YOU and ME. (Luke 19:10) In order for that to happen sin had to be abolished as it was the very thing keeping us from the Father. But to think that He (Jesus) came and died FOR our sin is incorrect in the least, awful is more like it.
The belief that Jesus died for our sin breeds in us the desire to give Him only what that belief says He came for…our sin.
When in reality Jesus came for you and me. He came for us. He came that we might have life. That we might be restored to the father. That we might take our place as children of God.
To recognize that Christ came for US and that He abolished sin to get what He came for is to come to place of decision.
Just as believing He came for our sin means we have to surrender to Him our sin, believing He came for US means we have to surrender to Him our lives.
Recognize that Jesus came for YOU. Jesus, the Lord of everything. The priceless and perfect lamb of God surrendered His life NOT for sin but to get through it, to what the Father considered the real treasure….YOU.
My hope and prayer is that you have surrendered to Jesus everything that He paid so dearly for. Not just your sin.
